At Heritage Baptist Church, you will find a warm and friendly congregation that treats each other like family based on the fact that we are brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. However, our church is definitely not an "us four and no more" kind of church and we are always excited to meet our guests and really want to see our church grow so we can meet our full potential for the cause of Christ and the glory of God.

A clean and well staffed nursery is available for infants to Preschool age children during Sunday School and all services.

Sunday School:

The Sunday School Hour begins with everyone joining together in the Fellowship Hall around 9:50AM for a time of Praises and Prayer Requests, which gives us an opportunity to share praises of what the Lord is doing in our lives and to also bear one another's burdens. We then have a time of prayer usually led by our Pastor, Bro. Josh Phillips.

We currently offer only one Sunday School Class and it is taught by our Pastor and offers verse-by-verse expository, practical Bible teaching, covering entire books of the Word of God and occasionaly covers other helpful Bible-centered works written by godly pastors, preachers, and Bible teachers such as, "What it means to be a Biblical Fundamentalist." , by Dr. Paul Chappel, Lancaster, CA.

Sunday Morning Service:

The Worship Service begins at 11AM in the Sanctuary and usually lasts until 12 noon, but "there is no stop time on our sign out front" and the most important thing is that we mind the Lord and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit!

Our Music:

We offer a traditional worship service experience with Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Currently, we do not have a song leader, pianist, or any other live musicians so our Pastor leads the congregational singing using accompaniment tracks with music and voice that matches the songs in our hymnal. Occassionally, we have live special music and it is always a blessing when we do. We are praying that the Lord would send someone to come and lead and play for our song service. If you or someone you know has a desire to serve the Lord by leading the congregational singing or by playing an instrument, please email our Pastor at This email address is being protected from spambots. Our desire is to create an atmosphere where people can truly worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth and we are fully aware that Spirit-filled music plays a very important role in this process as the Lord can use it to prepare hearts for the message to follow.

Our Message:

Pastor Josh always strives to deliver a relevant, practical, straight forward, Christ-centered sermon based on the Truth of the Word of God as he is led by the Holy Spirit. He seeks to reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine; not shying away from preaching on specific sins that plague our society, but also offering hope that is only found in Christ Jesus the Lord. Every Sunday Morning Service concludes with an invitation for people to come forward to the altar to pray and recieve Christ Jesus the Lord as their personal Savior, follow the Lord Jesus in believer's baptism, present themselves for church membership, or to just respond to the message according to how the Holy Spirit leads them. Pastor Josh seeks to always be available after the service to provide a listening ear and to offer Biblical counsel if necessary.

The special music before the message followed by the sermon  itself usually begins around 11:20AM and is shown Live on our Pastor's (Josh Phillips) personal Facebook page or on our church's Facebook page at Heritage Baptist Church - Smyrna, TN.

 Sunday Evening Service:

This service meets in the Sanctuary at 5pm and the message is a continuation of the message began in the Morning Service if necessary or an entirely new message as the Lord so leads.
